Once your footages are in your project folder, Precut takes care of the rest. Here's everything you can do with them.

Back to Precut Guide

Automatic transcription

Every video or audio file you add to your footages/ folder is automatically transcribed by Precut. You can search through the spoken words of all your files directly from the script editor.

The Footages panel

The Footages panel on the left sidebar lists all your files. You can search by filename or by words spoken in the clip.

Associate a footage to a paragraph

To link a footage to a paragraph in your script, you have two options:

Drag and drop — drag a file from the Footages panel and drop it into the script.

Slash search — type / followed by a few words that were spoken in the clip. Precut will find it and set the in point automatically at the exact moment those words were said.

Every element placed below a paragraph is associated to it — a clip, a comment, a storyboard.

Insert a footage with its transcript

You can extract the transcript from a footage and insert it directly into your script. This is especially useful for interviews, vlogs, or any footage where the spoken words are the content.

Click on a footage from the Footages panel to open it. From there:
