The script editor is the heart of Precut. This is where you write your script, organize your ideas, and associate your footages to your paragraphs.

Writing your script

You can write here just like in any text editor. Use the classic shortcuts — Cmd+B for bold, Cmd+I for italic.

Think of each new paragraph as a cut in your video — every one of them can be linked to a footage clip.

The slash command menu

Everything in Precut is accessible from the keyboard. Type / anywhere in the script and a menu will appear with all the available actions.

After the /, type the first few letters of what you're looking for — /tit will suggest Title/com will suggest Comment, and so on. Use the arrow keys to navigate and Enter to confirm.

Elements you can insert in your script

Titles and subtitles

Use titles to structure your script. They are not exported to the timeline.

Or type /title to insert one from the slash menu.

Comments

Add notes or editing instructions to a paragraph without affecting the script content. Comments are exported to the timeline — your editor will see them.
